Details
Fluoride ReductionThe US EPA limit for fluoride in water is 4 ppm, with a recommended level of 2 ppm to protect against cosmetic dental effects linked to excessive fluoride consumption. Drinking water with fluoride levels above 2ppm can lead to mottling of the teeth enamel or discoloration of the permanent teeth. In certain cases, the teeth become chalky white in appearance. And, too much fluoride in your drinking water may increase the potential for bones fractures. Exposure to drinking water levels above 4 ppm for many years may result in cases of serious bone disorder and abnormal fragility of the bones. The FI-FLUORIDE utilizes granular activated alumina media that can easily reduce fluoride levels from 0.5 ppm to less than 0.1 ppm. The activated alumina is a synthetic aluminum oxide that removes fluoride more selectively. It is widely used in the water treatment industry for its effective fluoride removal properties. For maximum effectiveness, do not exceed the recommended flow of 0.1 GPM. This filter lasts for 4500 ppm with effluent levels below 0.2 ppm - 10 ppm feed (approximately 1,125 gallons). |

10 µm Nominal
Dimension
2.50" X 9.80"
Temperature Range
40 DegreeF (4 DegreeC) to 100 DegreeF (38 DegreeC)
Pressure Range
25 PSI (1.7 BAR) to 100 PSI (6.9 BAR)
Flow Rate
0.25 GPM (0.38 LPM)
Capacity
5000 ppm (mg/L) or 260 GPG
Weight
2.0 lbs
Interfering ions and the recommended flow rates must be specifically accounted for when sizing these cartridge.
Note: Performance of the filter will be degraded by flow rates in excess of 0.25 gpm, high pH or high bicarbonate supply water. If the supply water tests above 100 ppm of bicarbonate, the fluoride reduction will be degraded to less than 50%; if the supply is over 200 ppm, the reduction efficiency is less than 75%.
